Hi Everyone

My name is Sonja. My daughter is struggling with her spelling and grammar. I thought this may be a good place to pick up a few handy tips. She is only six years old. But I don’t want the issue to become a larger problem later on down the track.

My two children are only 14 months apart ( I know, don’t go there! lol) My son who is 5 is reading, spelling and writing at a level higher than my daughter. I really don’t want her to feel discouraged. In all honesty she is just above her age group overall. I feel for her because my son gets so much praise for his accomplishments at his age.

It is so silly to be concerned, I do worry for her self confidence.

So any suggestions or resources for her age group would be excellent. I was hoping another parent out there knew of a particular book etc I could buy.

Thanks

Sonja

Ps

This is a scary place to post something. I actually have not checked my own grammar! Yikes maybe I could use a refresh too! lol Maybe a “Grammar” button just under the “check spelling” button would be great! wink

For one thing, do not compare them, except maybe here on this site, or to a doctor.
It is not silly to be concerned.
Please don’t use text-speak here. (lol) Spelling and writing are about the English language in all its beauty.
Have you spoken to their teachers?  What do they say?  The children are still very young.  Praise your daughter in other ways for things she can do. Maybe grammar is not her thing. Might be math or
science, etc.

Grammar button, would be an excellent idea. There is a thread in the forum where ideas for the future can be used.  The site is experiencing difficulties right now. and they are working on improving
the site.
But be welcome, we don’t pick on anyone, don’t be scared, just be yourself, and you will enjoy the site immensely.
I am sure others will post suggestions soon, as soon as they see your posting.
