Discuss socle here.

Archaic: A plain block or plinth, forming a low pedestal to a statue or column; or a plain face or plinth at the lower part of a wall.

“A socle differs from a pedestal in being without base or cornice.” - Brande & Cox

[French from Latin socculus, diminutive from soccus = a light shoe.]

Saparris is on his socle with the Subjunctive, plinth-wise, of course.

Leave it to the dictionary to say that a socle is like a plinth!

Your point??
the definition on the email said they differed: one tall, one short.  Are you on a socle, plinth, or soapbox this time?

It said they differed: one tall, one short. God said it, the GOG repeated it, I believe it, that settles it.

Gotta go for now. Mama P is in the hospital (as of last night). Probably should take her some bedroom shoes and socles.

Hope it is nothing serious.  Bed clothes would be a good idea too, considering hospital gowns.  But, then, you’d have to do the laundry, you ironmonger, you.

I won’t say that it’s not serious, but this happens two or three times a year. She has lots of chronic health problems, which, in turn, lead to more problems. Every now and then, she need more medical attention than we can provide.

Ever tried to hide a microwave or an oxygen concentrator?
