I’m not even sure I want to go to my own. Think I’ll stand outside the door and listen to the cordial remarks. (That shouldn’t take long.)

Its in my will: no funeral, no wake, cheapest casket, just plant me. Hate the whole concept. All for a family most of the time, and I have none.

No. Should be subjunctive: expressing a condtion contrary to fact.

...today’s news said he could be (could have been) (subjunctive, declinative)...
Could be is not subjunctive. It’s a modal + the verb to be. . I have forgotten was declinative is, although I remember the term from Latin. Can you tell us?

Retired from teaching. Couldn’t care less, that’s why I try hard to screw up the grammar thread, ornery, you called it. And I don’t care if that is subjunctive, adjunctive, dejunctive, or just plain Junk.

In Latin, one declines nouns. Can you decline that, decline, that is.
