“Juanita forgot doing her homework” means that Juanita did her homework but that she forgot she had done so.

Is that right?

I got it from a grammar teaching web site.

Yes, that is right.

She did not forget to do (complete) the homework,

but she forgot doing (the process) the homework.

My understanding up until now was that ‘to do’ was equal with ‘doing’, as in stop fishing and stop to fish, based on that ‘stop can take either verbal form as object.

How wrong I was!
Just when I think I understood and I knew all, I find more of what I knew wrong or didn’t know.

Arrrrr….

Yes, they can take either verbal, but they can show different meanings.

The infinitive form does not show a continuous action, whereas the gerund form does.

I’m sorry, but I’m unsure I can explain it any clearer without risking confusing you more.

Someone else may have a clearer way to explain this.

“Juanita forgot doing her homework”

Although gerunds and infinitives are often used interchangeably, this sentence requires the infinitive: Juanita forgot to do her homework.

“Juanita forgot doing her homework”
in incorrect.

You can say, I like camping and I like to camp, but in the case of the sentence above, you have one choice only.

I’d welcome you to the forum, but if this posting is for ulterior purposes to sell and advertise, then I for one do not appreciate it.  Hark your wares elsewhere.

Yes this is correct - although there are probably 3 other ways to say the same thing

Or gone, hopefully, like so many who make comments and then don’t back them up.

I am always amazed to see how the sentences can make two meanings.
