(Wiki has a good explanation of villanelles)

VILLANELLE FOR THE GOG
There is no one more worthy of your place
In GOGDOM’s summits, where you choose to dwell
With effortlessness power and charm and grace

Though some of us are agile in the case
Of posting puns and knowing how to spell
There is no one more worthy of your place

We have our moments in the members’ race
To post our pithy comments, but we fail
With effortlessness power and charm and grace

Grave men, we are, and women who embrace
Our limits to keep up, much less excel
There is no one more worthy of your place

It’s not that we don’t try—but know our place
When gauged against Agora’s matchless belle
With effortlessness power and charm and grace

We goglins all salute you on this day
With our best verse writ as a villanelle
There is no one more worthy of your place
With effortlessness power and charm and grace

I have to declare here that I dislike villanelles.  I find all those repeated rhymes monotonous and irritating.  They produce a static effect, like a tune in which most phrases return to the key-note.  shut eye

Perhaps somebody could invent a modified form, with a greater variety of rhymes.

I agree. There are only one or two good villanelles out there. Writing one is technically challenging, but the result is still somewhat contrived.

I made several efforts to write a few humorous villanelles. If I can find them, I’ll share. They were victims of a computer crash.

GOOD Disagree with him.
I have yet to look ukp villanelle, but will do so when I get other posts finished. But it does seem a bit cumbersome.

Just bringing it to the FOREFRONT: All Hail, O Galactic Over Goddess !

And I thought it was supposed to be an ODE.

Ode

A kind of poem devoted to the praise of a person, animal, or thing. An ode is usually written in an elevated style and often expresses deep feeling. An example is “Ode on a Grecian Urn,” by John Keats.

It’s an ode because it expresses deep feeling. If you want, I’ll write one with an urn, too.

No bow or wows required. I wanted to work odoriferous in there somewhere, but it wouldn’t cooperate.
