Which version is correct? Or are they both acceptable reional variants?

I say “All of a sudden.”  I’ve never seen “All of the sudden” in print, which leads me to think it’s nonstandard. Is the second version common to a particular area?

Again, I agree with saparris.  “All of a sudden” is correct.

I’m new here.  It’s so refreshing to join the company of people who respect the use of good grammar!

What’s wrong with all of “the” sudden? though I go along that the right one is all of “a” sudden.

Luck? I don’t know anything about luck. I’ve never banked on it, and I’m afraid of people who do. Luck to me is something else: Hard work—and realizing what is opportunity and what isn’t.
