Most of the idioms posted and discussed here are used in every day speech.  We come by them naturally, I guess.
It is just part of idiomatic English.  Welcome to the agora, dexterd.

Idiom of the day: do you the world of good- If something does you the world of good, it makes you feel a lot better.
example: Why don’t you go for a walk in the forest. It’ll do you the world of good to get away from everything for a while.

Did I use it correctly?

Idiom of the day: itchy feet- If you have itchy feet, you feel the need to go somewhere different or do something different.
example: It’s no wonder Ken’s got itchy feet. He’s been doing the same job, in the same office, for nearly twenty years.

Good one. We get all off the topic on this thread like all of them, but when we get idioms they are fun to discuss. Cut the mustard is one of them.  I did not know they put vinegar with it to spice it down,
making it less bitter.

I ate in a restaurant somewhere in England when visiting there.  I had mustard, having asked for it.  It was delicious.  I asked the waiter the brand, and he made
a spectacle of himself, which I enjoyed, watching him wash and dry a small bottle of it, empty, to give to me.  I took it home as a souvenir. I still have it somewhere,
and should look at the label and see if you still have it on your store shelves.

good chance it was Coleman’s, a famous brand. Bright yellow with a bull’s head on.

Good with beef or toasted cheese, mmm

Yes, Coleman’s.  I think it is available here too, tho’ not sure.  It was so good.  All I did was ask the waiter what it was and he made this BIG deal of getting me the
jar.  It was so funny.  All they would do is throw it in the trash, but he washed and dried it and snuck it to me in a napkin.  That is what I remember most.
Also found the syrup: see post above.

There is a story told of Mr Coleman Snr taking Mr Coleman Jnr for lunch at a restaurant. Seeing a waiter clearing away a dish that had quite a large dollop of mustard remaining on the plate, he stopped him and said to his son,‘There my boy, are our profits’.

If that were to happen today, the boy would have said ‘Nah It’s a dollop of mustard.’

You’re not inappropriate, just normal like the rest of us, except maybe saparris, who occasionally makes a slip and has to Repent.

Good one about the mustard. I’ll remember it.
