Snib - the little lock on the inside of a car door. I think it is of Scottish origin and we used it all the time as children.

Snub was the implication for those outside the snibbed door.

nibs, plural of nib. His Nibs: an honorific, but a silly one, like His Honor, His Excellency, His Highness, His Majesty. Someone with “airs”. I call my dog “Her Nibs” at times.
