And a nice flag it is. Palmetto trees are very common along the coast, where there uppity colonists started settling. The crescent is a warning from those of us in the Piedmont. It means, “Be careful or we’ll moon you!”

Too bad the Indians didn’t moon you, then South Carolina would never have been settled, and would be an Indian paradise today.

I wasn’t around, but they shouldn’t have been so nice to my ancestors, who’s peregrine jouneys from the Old Country didn’t to much for the Indians in the long run.
