To say a word how its spelled

Hey all i was watching TV and they were talking about a word that mean you pronounce a word how its spelled, but the word they were talking about had some letters in it that you didnt say… i think it was like a CH to make a K sound

anyways i found it pretty funny but cant remember what the word was anybody else heard it before?

You cannot pronounce every word in English the way it is spelled. (Bough, cough, thorough, though, doughty,slough,etc. for example)

Is “tache” the word you meant? Or might it be “tackle” as in bait and tackle on your fishing boat?

If I listen to Beethoven’s 5th, then listen immediately to Beethoven’s 9th, am I listein to Beethoven bach to bach?
