Hello,
I’m not sure I’m in the right forum but I needed help understanding the underlined expression, since I cannot find it in any dictionary.

There were three stretches of water-pipes - a fifteen-foot length under our driver entrance; a stretch of about thirty yards further up the Valley where the water had been piped past a field; and another length under the drive of a new house further on again.

Does it mean that the house is even further up the Valley?

Thank you very much,
Ana

The sentences are taking you further up the Valley as you read on. Three stretches of water pipes going, I presume, in one direction. Yes, the house is further up the Valley.

And welcome to the forums, Ana.  grin
