I had a conversation with my dad the other day. I forget what we were rambling on about other than it had to do with the ‘60s and ‘70s versus modern day. I was trying to describe those years as “out-of-date,” which is the definition of the word I was trying to say. I know it starts with an “o,” but I just can’t say it!

Thanks in advance!

The word is obsolescent, Sean.  It doesn’t apply to absolutely everything from the 60’s and 70’s; parts of it (and some of us) are still relevant!

Hey, I like some bits of the past, too! I like the music and styles. But my dad was just going on about how things have changed since then. It was more like a “Duh, dad! It’s been forty-nine years!” conversation.

But thanks for answering. “Obsolete” and “obsolescent” was exactly what I was looking for. grin

Me and my mom had this conversation last week. To be honest, I like the past better. Love their music, style, etc.. Of course, I also like today’s styles. But I mainly like the 60’s and 70’s because the people during those times started it all.

Here we also say: “Oh, how avant-guard 60s & 70s liberalism can nowadays be so passé”
