I am sending letters to companies asking for donations.  The letter will not have a name and address on it. Only the date, contents, signed by.  What saluation could you use?  Dear Friend, ?  I know TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN should not be used?  Help?  Thanks.

Is there any reason why you are not addressing the letters to anyone specifically?  If it is a mass-mailing type letter, I would suppose that “Dear Friend” or “Dear Sir or Madam” might be ok…

The reason for not putting the name and address on the letter is because we did not want to use Mail Merge.  We have around 3,000 letters with a brochure being mailed.  We are trying to save money in sending the letter.  We are going to save on postage this way.  Thanks.
PS I wanted to use Dear Friend, I am not sure about Dear Sir or Madam?

thanks,
