Surely not about to go native on us now are you, Mr. Hinamori, or is it Mr. Amu?  Japanese interrogative particle ka can here be easily seen in Filipino tagalog expression kamusta ka “how are you?”  Likewise evident “ok, aok” in customary response thereto has already been rather conclusively shown to originate, through American slang, from Niger-Congo W. Atlantic Wolof waaw ka “yea verily!”

n.b. Philippine epichoric kamusta < colonial Spanish ¿Cómo está? “How are you?”

2.  Thus in similar fashion lang < regional Scots variation “lang” cf. ex musa Robert Burns “Auld Lang Syne” 1788

I seem to have relatively moderate success with the painstaking copy & paste method of encoded character entry.

But certainly not in blessed Kyoto, Japan:

1. どちらへ dochirahe colloquial expression “How are you?”

2. お元気ですか o-genki desu ka more polite or formal greeting “How are you (doing)?”

success in not just the cut/paste method, but in the translation and ability to put in form that can be understood.

The squares indicate that your computer isn’t set up to foreign languages. If you go to your Control Panel, there should be a icon, “Add/Remove Programs”, where you can activate it there.
