What’s this person called in English?

a person whose job is visiting house by house and checking and registering the figures on Gas counters. (this person is normally from Gas Co. and is collecting info for preparing the Gas bill which later comes by post).

They are meter-readers.

Some are meterologists - and they never get it right.  Fast ones are meteors.  Short ones are metergnomes.  Meterphors take the readings and write them down as something similar but not quite the same.  The most precise readings are made by metiers.

However, if that wasn’t apparent, the correct term is “meter-readers”

it’s called ......... Gas Man.

Actually, gas man is not as commonly used as the term “meter reader” which refers to someone coming to look at the gas meter on your house.

So, that would be the correct simple solution
