This word certainly has more to it than the ones I usually identify with, i.e., finances.  I find the word Creole with its root, interesting, to say the least. And I suppose boy and girl , koros and kore, are accrued to mom and dad, hence the root.  I am not sure I understand the Creole background, does anyone?

Now contemporary financese accrue < O.Fr acreistre acroistre “to add or increase” while vinic blue ribbon Grand Cru usually reserved for redolent Burgundy and likewise thrice happy Alsace gets supine formation cru from mod.Fr croitre “to grow” both of which hail from cl.Lat precursor crescere with the same, aforesaid meaning.  But secondary diminutive Creole seems to acquire its primary stem from Romance vernacular criar “to raise or bring up” which figures to be one later development of regular Latin creare “to produce or bring forth” ultimately cognate with PIE root ker- IEW* GK p.293 or AHD “to grow” as earlier discussed crescere also.  Anyway this ethnic label “Creole” would originally derive from resident attache cria who more often was someone of European descent brought up and retained in this West Indian household, not just to be servile domestic but otherwise trusted & indispensible factotum!

Cresco, crevi, cretum, (crescere), to come forth, be born, to rise . Interesting. Thank you. Amazing derivations!
