disoriented vs. disorientated / try uncomfortability vs. discomfort

One of the evening “talk” shows on cable, repeatedly uses uncomfortability when speaking of something of which the anchor finds offending or hurtful to himself.  Why use such a complicated word l6 letters long, seven syllables in length, when discomfort is more apropos. Confusing!

That is strange, maybe they are trying to sound smart but only come off stiff? ^.^;

It’s like saying ‘antidisestablishmentarianism’ instead of ‘establishmentarianism’.
Or ‘floccinaucinihilipilification’ instead of ‘floccinaucity’.
