Even though it’s old news (from the 2000 Word of the Year list), I think the definition is a little incorrect:
Click-and-mortar What dot-coms are attempting to become; a hybrid between a dot-com and a ‘brick-and-mortar’ (viz. profitable) operation
A "brick-and-mortar" is a company with a physical (brick-and-mortar) store that one can visit, as opposed to a cyber-store, that one can only visit in cyberspace. All brick-and-mortar stores are not necessarily profitable: just check with the Small Business Administration. ;)
A "click-and-mortar" company has both a cyber presence and a physical presence, such as Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, and other large (and small) retailers.
