Has there been a silent upgrade of our forum software? I ask because I have been seeing a lot of square boxes in the text of an increasing number of posts over the past week or so - I think it’s about that length of time.

They appear to be in places where I expect people have typed a punctuation mark but one post tonight has a whole string of boxes!

I also noticed that too. I also see that in the window title bar of the Agora (I am using IE 6), there is also a square box where the other yD pages have a nice fat dot. The said character looks like "•" to me (ASCII 149). A little research shows that the mysterious squares appear also in a couple of WotD postings, in these cases most definitely where a hyphen should have been. I refer to a "proper" hyphen (or is it a dash?) (ASCII 151, "—") and not the minus sign that lazy people like me tend to use in its place.

I have just previewed this post and now see that my theory is justified, the two examples of the problem characters have be transmogrified into squares.

This may have to do with the change in encoding to accomodate some foreign characters.  I’ll look into it.

The little square is in the title bar (Opera v 6) between "yourDictionary.com" and "Agora Discussion Board."
