"It is not enough that I succeed, others must also fail."

I’ve Googled a bunch and came up with attributions from Gore Vidal to Attila the Hun. However, I couldn’t find anything remotely definitive.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Hmm… Hits for Genghis Khan, La Rochefoucauld, Sartre, and Oscar Wilde, also…

Good luck!

It does appear to be a common sentiment. Heh.

I sense that I’m not going to be able to reach any speedy conclusions on this one. Thanks for giving it a shot though.  :)
