I’ve been racking my brain over this and I was wondering if anyone knew the answer. The question is: "What word in the English language contains the vowels ‘a i e u i a’ in that order?"...Thanks!

LinguisticApathy, I wonder where you got that puzzle… no Google hits on that specific string of vowels.

However, you may want to consult this AskOxford reference regarding the five vowels (a,e,i,o,u) in order.

Here’s another page of WORD-TYPE PUZZLES, since you seem to be into that.

antideluvian? Off the top of my head, but it seems to fit. I’m sure there are others.

edit: sorry, antediluvian is correct. My spelling sucks.
antidelugial would be dyke-like, but  probably not a word.

Thanks for your help guys. I got the riddle from a university lecturer, literature I think.  I’m beginning to think that the answer may be more simple than it seems.

Well good.  I’m always for simple.

...except when I want complicated.
