.
corsair522 .. would appreciate any help on learning linguistic background of french name ‘baudoin’... ‘baldwin’ in english.

am i correct in thinking that etymology of names is ‘consistent’ across various languages ?  i.e., would ‘elizabeth’ and ‘isabelle’ have the same origins in both english and french ?

"Derived from the Germanic elements bald "bold, brave" and wine "friend"."

Yes, of course, the same way English and French words as ‘pizza’, ‘telephone’, ‘stable/étable’ share the same etymology.
