I was just wondering whether there was a word to describe this sensation i sometimes have , in which a single tune or a song is played over and over again in my head. It would be nice if there was a word for it. Does anybody know such a word?
Thank you,
Krithika

According to my Socratic intuition, a very great deal of human speech & communication would appear to be pure reflex, like when the family doctor tests the motor response in your lower leg, by giving the knee joint a gentle tap with his aesculapian hammer.  This means you already know what to say, before you even say it; it must also follow, however, that you have once in some, mysterious way heard, what you may now be hearing, whether real sound is actually there, or just leftover noise ringing in your two ears.  Thus both oral and auditory function ought to fall under neural activity, but it can nonetheless amount to something much bigger than simple, biochemical reaction—especially when you get into religious experience and the creative arts!  (By the way, my lifelong studies have yet to unveil any general disagreement here.)  So before you go see a highly exalted neurologist, remember to apply gingerly with those ear plugs you might want to use, topical antiseptic purchased for just one American dollar at your local drug store, to guard against resultant irritation & infection of the aural cavity!

Actually, there is a slang term for it: "Earworm"

See this entry at Wikipedia:

Just a friendly warning in regards to the commercial product Neosporin, certain topical antiseptics when used together with other drugs (e.g. caffeine or something like it) and this goes as well for alcohol too, have occasionally been known to increase a healthy patient’s blood pressure, i.e. all based upon my own experience of course!

If the word, is "om" you’re probably a buddhist .

If its repetitive music, you may have a faulty ipod.

If its repetitive buddhist music, its "omipod" !
