Hello! I use the Opera browser and this afternoon decided I would like to work the crossword. So I went there and found that the upper half of the puzzle is flickering badly! I am assuming it’s because your code includes some command not understood by Opera. I think it would be great if you could insert a bit more code to test for Opera and have an alternate line for this browser for whatever function you are trying to do.

Thank you,

I don’t usually wander into this subject area so have only just found this topic.

I too am an Operaphil and can’t load the crossword at all - so can I express a (slightly) cross word here!  >:( The crossword page made my Opera crash so I’m feeling discordant.

I do find it frustrating that so many sites seem to employ Microsoft-specific Java rather than sticking to standard Sun Java (they did invent it). Actually, there are many more that don’t, I only notice the ones that don’t!

I also wanted to use Opera for my online class. But I can’t. They use framesets in the class utility software which Opera (6 at least) doesn’t suuport. Really that’s outrageous. I agree. Use the standard (Sun) Java! Darnit!

>:(

I have Opera 6.05 and it supports frames, I use them extensively on my website. You can turn them on or off - check your preferences?

Apparently it’s not "frames" but something called "framesets." Whatever, it doesn’t work with the online course software.

*shrug*  :P

How confusing language can be ! When I clicked onto this thread it was with the thought that it entertained (the old meaning !) a discussion on the relative merits of these two wonderful pastimes. After reading through the contributions, the only thing I find to say is that [l]a donna รจ mobile....

LOL, I’m sorry you were disappointed Henri. But I’ll try to rectify that. Opera, the musical story kind, is more enjoyable to do than to watch. OTOH, if you are at a performance, you can easily whip out a crossword puzzle and let the music and song waft about you as you engage your mind in word game.

Does that help? :D
