I think Brad said that it was a hack to the old version of YaBB, and he hasn’t been able to re-write and test it for the new version. I miss it too, but have gotten into the habit of just checking the upper left corner of the window to see if the number of messages had changed. That is, assuming I can remember what the last number was!
