We’ll be reviewing suggestions made in the past as we develop the improvements to the YD site, but we’d like to invite you to make new suggestions.

* What features do you wish yourDictionary offered that are not currently available?

* When you look up a word, what information would you find useful in addition to the definition and pronunciation?

* What content features (articles, information) should yourDictionary add?

* What does yourDictionary have that you think is great and should not be changed?

We are very interested in your feedback!

Thank you in advance.

For the forum, to present not only transcriptions, but how a word is written in its native orthography. An IPA capable font wouldn’t hurt, either.

I’ll have to look at our forum software in more detail to see what we can easily support/upgrade to. Honestly, we inherited it, and I’m not all that familiar with this BBS package yet. I will keep the request in mind though as we move forward.
thanks for the feedback.

Now that I can finally ponder this relevant matter set before us all, the one & only AgoraDiscussionBoard could really use some kind of insert table with multiple fonts & diverse scripts, not unlike the versatile example also found in Microsoft Word; but no systemic upgrade ever comes without necessary expense, and so I entertain even less desire to prevail upon our congenial webmaster and his/her distinguished sponsor, whoever it may truly be.

Hi,
I noticed the WOTD archives stop with ‘jetsam’ on Feb 10/07.
Would it possible to keep the archives up to date?
I, for one, would greatly appreciate that.

thank you!!

Thank you for your note about the WOTD archive. Yes, we need to fix that and will do so.

We’re also investigating doing a forum update this year so that we can add unicode support. The version of the bb software we’re running now does not support it. I can’t give you a date (we’re in the process of hiring more developer resources) but I can tell you we want to make significant improvements to the site as well as the forum…

Question: Now I suggested a word-processor simulacrum because of my uncertain notion about how much e. data a wireless connection will reliably sustain—n.b. your reference to "bb" above (meaning "broadband" of course)?  Whatever the case, current Unicode UTF-8 undoubtedly receives the majority vote here, although I wonder how long before it, like all else in post-modern cybernetics today, becomes decidely obsolete by the abnormally steady rate of temporal progress, to be reasonably expected in such a high-tech profession as this.  So without recourse to confess my sins, as it were, I must therefore humbly recommend some kind of interactive modification, and one indeed that could essentially survive the vicarious test of constant innovation we know too well—in the same way our word-text programs do over the long run!

Sorry - by "bb" I meant "bulletin board" as in "YaBB"—the bulletin board/forum software we are currently running. smile

Still there’s no compelling need to say you’re sorry, just so the present dialog remains clear enough to understand—but thanks anyway!

I absolutely love word games. The word games on YD are very limited I have beat them all and there never any new ones. I would love to see some new/harder games.

Hi! I just became a part of this forum here and I would love to be a part of it.  I love contributing to the community.
I can probably add some humour to start with. Here are some funny stories that I read somewhere.

A patient comes to a Dentist with a tooth pain.
Dentist :  Two of you teeth are infected and we need to extract them.
Patient:  How much will it cost?
Dentist:  Seven hundred and fifty dollars for both.
Patient: What? Seven hundred and fifty dollars for 10 minutes of work?
Dentist: Well, if you like, I can pull them out slowly!
Here is another one:

Husband and wife have just left their home for camping.
Wife: We should turn the car back! I forgot to turn off the gas stove and it might burn our appartment!
Husband: It’s okay, the apartment will not burn, I forgot to turn off the shower.

The last one:

A trial is in progress in the court room.
Lawyer: Your Honour, if a person has 18 criminal records he is not a criminal.
Judge: Then who is he?
Lawyer: He is a Collector.

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed it.

AP: News just broke about the Minnesota Vikings. . .

JJ: What about’em?

AP: They’re moving to LA Coliseum. . .

JJ: Really, you mean for good?

AP: Yup, and changing their name to Viqueens!

Or on a slightly more sophisticated note:

Don:  Ever try Swarthmore Heights for a date?

Doff:  I never go out with petticoats. . .

Don:  And why the heck not?

Doff:  They keep asking for more & more remuneration!
