 I suppose I can understand the source of the term "oh shoot!"....

but where does the phrase "just shoot me" come from?  what idiot coined that one?
(besides a tv producer).  :)

::)

Please, kill me now, that I shall no longer have to bear the unspeakable agony of simply being in your presence, of having to hear the insipid drivel that issues forth from your mouth. Death seems so wonderful idea, now that I know that there truly is someone as utterly troglodytic as you in the world, where previously I thought it altogether impossible, entirely inconceivable. My faith in humanity has been shattered. I cannot possibly ask you to remove yourself from this world - or rather, I could, but my efforts would be in vain, as you are too far gone into the depths of sheer stupidity to understand the contribution you would be making to the progress of all mankind by your immediate disappearance. I cannot go on, knowing that you even exist. So, I beg you, just shoot me. Now.

How’s that?  ;D

Reminds me of what we used to say to people when I was in High School.  "Don’t go away mad, just go away."

But we don’t really want you to go away.  The more, the merrier, eh?

I’ve also—and usually—heard it used in the context of "I’m so pathetic, I’m like a race horse with a broken leg—just shoot me!"

And I got to use the word ‘troglodytic’ too!

(Is that even a ‘real’ word? Whee!)
