I am currently translating an American English help file into another language and found a phrase I had never seen before: "The little keyword that could". I have been browwsing the web and have found similar expressions such as "The Engine That Could", "The Little Class That Could", "The Little Weed That Could", etc., but I have not been able to understand their meaning. Would anybody be so kind and explain to me what is the meaning of this kind of phrases?

Thanks in advance!!

Into Spanish, but its translation to other Romanic languages could be useful as well. I did not mention it as it is not relevant for the meaning of the phrase.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Agora, backtotown!

You are on the "right track" (couldn’t resist the pun) with your reference to "The Little Engine That Could"...  I take it the software was originally published in the US.  The story of the Little Engine that climbed the mountain and carried its load, successfull by means of sheer determination (I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...), is certainly a part of the American conscience.

Basically, it sounds like the original writer was indicating that using the "keyword" referenced in the title, the software user will be able to do more than, at first glance, one would think.

I also found an online article that discusses the origins of the "Little Engine" story: In Search of Watty Piper.

Wikipedia has a good summary of the "Little Engine" story, also: The Little Engine That Could

I didn’t know the story of the Little Engine was also known as the "The Pony Engine"...
