In the seventies, black guys called hot females "foxy". Why? Are foxes sexually attractive to human males?

I doubt that most men are attracted to foxes.

The use of the word foxy might come from the beautiful tail of the fox, referencing both buttocks and beautiful hair.

Or it may have come from the use of the word vixen:

vixen

In the sense more of spirited, passionate than ill-tempered!

Just conjecture, mind you!

Good question, VB!

Foxes, like felines, are mysterious.  They can be quite stealthy and quick, and they have a measure of grace about them that would seem impossible.  They are elegant and balanced at all times.

In addition, there is the appearance, and the trademark sumptuousness of the fur.  The lines of the body are smooth and curvaceous.  The colors are pure and rich, never bland.  The face is marked with wit and cunning.

But most of all, you will probably only hear men describe a woman as a "fox" when they don’t know her very well or at all—in particular, never hearing her voice, I think.  It is that mystery, in addition to the physical appearance, that draws the man in.  She must remain mysterious to remain a fox.

What a vixen?  Look at the tail on that baby!  And those eyes!  How they just size you up and spit you out!

in our english literature, foxy means sexy… because foxy there is just a slang or street words.. its an informal way of saying..

Yet to be officially standardized “fox” can also be very hip street chatter for at least two succinct illustrations to follow:

1.  Androgynous predatory lesbian

2.  Sexually aggressive transvestite hustler

n.b. how each individual profile appears to demonstrate acute gender-bending personality!

Except the stately old hens I know would probably beat you silly like a worn-out, dusty ol’ rug!

A fox in the hen house. When first reading the question, the term which came to me, was the tail, sleek and beautiful as well as the mystery and beautiful grace, as found above.
