[quote author=frank link=board=idiom;num=1146600331;start=0#0 date=05/02/06 at 16:05:3] stunt performer David Blaine as "the git wizard".
Despite the fact that i find Brigstocke’s comments on Blaine screamingly funny, i still wonder what "git" means
.
Could anybody help me out?

A git is generally someone who is perceived as being either inept or corrupt, socially offensive (either deliberately or unintentionally) or being somewhat of a smartarse.
It is sometimes used as a "left-handed compliment", as a mark of envy or admiration for someone who has come to prominence (or fortune) through nefarious, underhanded means, or through sheer luck.
The latter is often qualified as "a jammy git".
Someone who displays this quality consistently might be a "right git".
