My guesses:

Cloud—Cloud comes before the rain, flood after.  You see a dark cloud and look for rain to fall soon.  A flood can come from upstream even if it doesn’t rain where you are.

I’d say Rodeo, since Radio is mostly music and talk shows.  Unless, of course, you define people shouting at each other on talk radio as exciting and entertainment.

Hold and Hull are both parts of a boat (a hulk is not a part of a boat per se), but I’d say most people are familiar with Hull.

Minds is the only word I can think of that fits, but what else would they treat?

7) Could be MANIA, but then there should be an apostraphe in "patients’."
