I’m trying to remember the synonym for self-tuition that is similar to didactic.  Anyway, didactic is a part of the word.  Thanks in advance!

I thought there might be an etymological connection between tutor and tuition but could find none.

[quote author=17thPrime link=board=what;num=1146556888;start=0#3 date=06/19/06 at 19:39:27]I thought there might be an etymological connection between tutor and tuition but could find none.

But there is a connection:
tuition
tutor
The Latin verb tueri (to guard) apparantly had two variants of the past participle, viz. tutus (>tutor) and tuitus (>tuition).
