...something to the effect of "shortening a word by eliminating a syllable or syllables."  For example, saying "Probly" or "prolly" instead of "probably."

El término apócope se refiere a la supresión de la vocal o la sílaba final de una palabra, como en buen (de bueno), gran (de grande), etc.
