Could you help me with this sentence? I can’t seem to find how to say it in English. I’ve found the following phrasing on the Internet, but it’s almost exclusively found on foreign sites, which makes me doubtful that is correct. My problem concerns the word "derogation".

By derogation from Article 2, the Beneficiary will not prepare any interim reports.

I am trying to point out that this clause (i.e. that the beneficiary will not prepare any interim reports) deviates from Article 2 of the contract.

Thanks.

The provisions of Article 2 notwithstanding, the Beneficiary will not prepare any interim reports.

Great, Stargzer, thanks a million. This has come up again and again in an awful contract I’m translating that been giving me a lot of trouble. Not legally binding though, thank goodness!

Glad to be of some help.  I’m assuming that the original contract clause means that in spite of what Article 2 says, the beneficiary will not prepare any interim reports.

Yes, that’s exactly what it means.

Seeing the success I’ve had here, I’m going to try you again on a new thread.  :)
