I don’t think it matters much, but I’d probably go with under.

I agree with Demijohn, unless the product is to be completely hidden by the rear retainer, then I’d use underneath or beneath.

Thank you all for your attention to this. It’s a packaging machine that transports the product on a conveyor into the wrapping station where it is held in place by a retainer while it is enveloped in the film.
In that context, I believe I would choose beneath.
