Alpha Kappa Alpha (ÁÊÁ) Sorority, Incorporated, formed in January 15, 1908 at Howard University, became America’s first Greek-letter organization established by Black college women.

Members of club(soroity) of ALPH KAPPA ALPHA greet each other by lifting their pinkies in the air or contacting each others pinky. These two greetings methods are part of a traditional form of unifying members together.
