Have you had this word?  It has an interesting derivation from Dr. Jenner who noticed that milkmaids were since their faces were not pocked with smallpox.  From there he induced that a serum from the cow would protect against the smallpox disease.  The latin (and Italian) for cow is vacca, hence vaccination.  Cool.

Yes, it is cool.  Vaca, with one "c", is the word for cow in both Spanish and Portuguese.
