Saying «Akemashi te, omedetô gozaimasu !», is one thing, but writing it before 3 January is another ! Who says Japanese traditions are unchanging ?...

mutamus ad vivendum.

Henri, according to my reformist pilpel, writing "Akemashi te…" is not a misdimeanour even if the said act takes place within the first three days of the new year.  Let’s be practical.  Otherwise what can I do with people whose nengajoos (new year greating postcards) have reached my mailbox on January 1 but whom I did not send one to?

For several years now discount stores, followd by classy deparment stores, have been pre-empting their new year sales on the first of January.  Wishing them good luck, I wait for a day when the said sales will be done in the last several days of December, keeping sacred/screwed new year days very quiet but not so much immobile.  How’s that?

Well, Flam, as we all know, Xmas starts commercially in October at the latest, so you’ve probably indicated the wave (no pun intended) of the future….

Yes, it was down for quite some time, and more than once, intermittently, in 2004…

Glad to see Agora is back!  Now maybe I can begin going out again.  It has been so cramped while you were gone.  Not to mention cold and dark.
