Why the change from using "lit"  to using "lighted" in USA english?
When i was younger i remember seeing lit and being taught to use it.  But now i only see "lighted" which is difficult for me to say. wink

There are a lot of "new past tense" words floating around these days, which grates on my nerves! (Granted, I was educated in a British system and live in Canada, and I blame American TV for the degradation of the English language  :D)

Examples:

snuck and sneaked
dove and dived
input and inputted

When I’m in doubt, I refer to old-fashioned, grass roots grammar rules.

Cheers!

It’s going to get very confusing when the Yanks supplant "unlit" with "delighted", but if you watched the final of the Cricket World Cup to the bitter end, you will know that, for Aussies, the two are synonymous !
