Commodity Exchange Act

A law that governs commodity and futures trading in the United States. It established the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and outlines what types of investments the CFTC can regulate. It also includes the Shad-Johnson Agreement, which describes the division of authority and responsibility for regulation of financial contracts between the CFTC and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
