Chicken and egg means a situation where two things seem so dependent on each other, you can't tell which one would have been first or which one is the cause and which one the effect.

An example of a chicken and egg situation is a student who isn't sure if he is bad at math because he doesn't like it, or if he doesn't like math because he is bad at it.
