unfair labor practice
Action by an employer or union that violates terms of the National Labor Relations Act or other federal or state legislation. For example, employers are prohibited from discriminating against employees who engage in union activities, and unions are prohibited from refusing to bargain with the employer of the employees it represents. See also National Labor Relations Board.
