unbiased estimator definition - business

unbiased estimator

In statistics, a sampling statistic (if the sampling process was repeated indefinitely) that is equal to the true value of the population parameter. For example: The sample mean of a properly chosen, random sample is an unbiased estimator of the population mean. The average of all sample means, for random samples of a fixed size, is equal to the mean of the population from which the samples were chosen.
