trendline definition - business

trendline

In statistics, a line on a chart indicating the direction of a variable over time. In technical analysis of securities, a straight line or two parallel straight lines indicate the direction in which a security has been moving and, many technicians believe, the direction in which it will continue to move. When a variable breaks through a trendline, the beginning of a new trend is indicated.
