seller financing definition - business

seller financing

An agreement in which the current owner of an asset provides all or part of the financing for its sale. Seller financing is generally used as an inducement to a buyer who finds borrowing through normal channels to be expensive or impossible. Seller financing can prove advantageous to a seller who has relatively poor investment alternatives for money received from the sale.
