seasonal adjustment

seasonal adjustment definition - business

seasonal adjustment

Recalculation of a set of data to remove the effect of recurring seasonal influences. For example, the seasonal variation in the prices of fruits and vegetables can have a substantial impact on the consumer price index unless the index calculation includes a seasonal adjustment. In practice, the Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the CPI both with a seasonal adjustment and without a seasonal adjustment.
