registered investment adviser

A professional investment adviser who manages the investments of others and is registered with the SEC as part of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. Registered investment advisors have a fiduciary duty to act in the best interest of their clients and disclose any conflicts of interest. They are required to register annually with the SEC.
