recall

  1. An order or request that dismissed employees return to work.
  2. A company's announcement that merchandise it manufactured or sold should be returned for repair or replacement. For example, in 2000 Bridgestone/Firestone announced that, for safety reasons, it was undertaking a voluntary recall of nearly 6.5 million of certain types and sizes of tires it had manufactured.
  3. Removal of an elected official by public petition.
