  1. A reevaluation of property for the purpose of establishing a new tax base. Periodic reassessments are standard practice in most districts, which update valuations according to recent sale prices.
  2. Reconsideration of a rule or strategy. For example, a company's directors decide on reassessment of a merger proposal after accounting irregularities are discovered in the other firm's financial statements.
