quota

A maximum or minimum limit on quantity. For example, the appliance department of a retail store has a monthly sales quota, or minimum number of units that are expected to be sold. Applied to imports, a quota designates the maximum quantity of a product that may be brought into a country during a specified period. See also tariff 1, trigger price.
